Remote Desktop Connection Password Problem

Hi All.

I'm really having a hard time configuring Remote Desktop Connection.
I'm trying to set up a session between my laptop at work(Windows 7 Home Premium) and my PC at home(Windows 7 Ultimate). Now the settings are fine ('Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer' and 'Allow connections from computers running any version of remote desktop' are ticked, on both systems).

Now for the Computer: and Username: I have:
Computer: ip of remote PC (Home PC)
User Name: PC-Name\Account Name

Now the problem is when I want to log into the remote account(at home), It keeps telling me I have the wrong username and password, although it is the right and only one.

What to do? Thanks

Are you running homegroup at home, or workgroup?

Hello,

In addition, please try changing the wrong Password and replace it with a new one, try connecting again.

An update will be nice.

@ zigzag3143: Home PC- ISP>>Router>>2 PC's connected to router. The Home PC in question is connected via a LAN cable to the router.
Now The PC connected via the LAN cable (say PC1) can remote desktop connect to the other home PC(PC 2), using a computer name of: 10.0.0.248(lan address of PC 2) and User Name: PC2\David (David-which is the Admin Account). The Password works. But it doesn't work the other way around(PC2 accessing PC1), and also, the remote desktop connection from my work PC(laptop) to my home PC(PC2) does not work either, as described in my original post.

Hope this answers your question

@ 2xg: Do you mean I should change the remote PC's password(the account I want to connect to)? Why would that help/change the problem?

It's only a suggestion, it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. It is your call of course.

Also, you might want to check on the firewall setting from the problematic computer.

If an alternative remote application is an option Team viewer is free, easy to use, and bullet proof. I use it daily and it is an essential tool for me.
