Hi there i have some issue with RDP too here my setup.

    Broadband connection
Open port forwarding in my router to 2xxx1 for Win7 and 2xxx2 for Win XP
Open firewall in Avg virus scanner for allow RDP, and changed the default port to 2xxxx that match router

    - RDP with in the Lan was fine, win 7 to win xp or winxp to win7 computer no issue
    - RDP outside of lan can't connect
    - RDP inside lan but use wan IP can't connect
    - RDP inside lan with wan IP with all firewall disable still can't connect

I also setup a PPTP (VPN) in win 7 but again can't connect on it.

I really dont know what going on with this. Please help

    Hello,

When you have selected 'allow connects from computers running any version of remote desktop' in the remote settings?

Is there a reason why you have changed the RDP Ports on the computers? Is your router unable to re-direct public ports?

Yes I have checked to all connects from computer running any version. I changed the default port 3389 to my own because I don't want to keep the default. Its higher risk of getting common bot attacks. My router redirect public ports with no issue, I have a string sof port open in my router firewall for different games, P2P DL, and other programs.

I suggest that you change the PC's listening port back to 3389 and then use your router to redirect the public port 2xxx1 to local port 3389. There is always a chance that something could be using port 2xxx1 on the PC which would make it not work.

Test that the ports are open on your router by using telnet (This will have to be done outside of your network):

Ok update change the local port back to 3389 but still have a different incoming public port in router port fowarding. I got RDP working with wan IP and the forwarding port. But this only work if I got AVG firewall turn off, so port forwarding is no issue and window have no issue. I been going over couple forums and found out their was other who also have this problem getting AVG firewall to work with RDP.

I guess now we found the issue hopefully AVG will fix this bug. Thank all for helping.

    Hello,

Just create a rule in AVG to allow Remote Desktop or port 3389 if possible.

    Thanks

Thank Dave yeah I tried. I try the default the build in RDP setting in AVG, tried creating a new rule, tried changing the setting, tried the default/modding the PPTP setting, tried create a new application access with rules, nothing work.

Good thing is I just build my computer 2 weeks ago and are using their trial version AVG Internet Security 2012. In there own forum there user who upgraded from 2011 to 2012 version, and their RDP stop working. So for sure their not going to get my business anytime soon.
