Losing internet on resume from sleep

I have been having problems with Win 7 64 bit build 7100. When I resume from sleep my ethernet connection no longer functions. Sometimes I can get Windows troubleshooter to reset/restore the connection, sometimes not.

I have an ASUS M4A78T-E motherboard with an Atheros ethernet controller.

Also, after the failure to connect, the PC won't shut down (I have to do a hard shut down by holding the power button down for 5 seconds). Then I have to restart, go into "safe" mode, shut down, and restart again to get internet connectivity again.

    Thanks!

have a look at your network properties and, if you already haven't done so, try unticking the box marked below.

    hope this helps!

hey, I'm having the same problem. whenever my computer returns from sleep mode, the internet connection is out, the computer can't detect any network adapters, and I either have to unplug the ethernet and plug it back in or (if that doesn't work) restart the computer.

I unchecked the network properties box you mentioned when this first started occurring a few weeks ago, it worked for a while but not anymore.

    any suggestions?
