Limited Internet Connectivity, windows wont detect networking hardware

    Hi everybody,
    Any help massively appreciated.

A friend of a friend set up my dell mini for me and it won't go online. I recall getting it to work int the past at a friends house but not since then at multiple wifi locations.

Windows says it can't detect networking hardware...
The troubleshooter can't identify the problem, and I share internet with a neighbor so I can't easily set up a landline to experiment.

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Welcome to SF,

Is this a wired or wireless connection issue?

Can you please provide an ipconfig /all output of the problematic computer for review?
Click on Start => in run or search box type cmd, press enter. From the command prompt (black screen), Copy and Paste these ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt . Please attach the .txt file to be found in your Local Disk 'C' on your next post.

    hi 2xg,
    Thank you for your attention.

    It said "access is denied"
I have noticed that I am not allowed to delete programs that I don't want because of the way he set the system up and it says I have to get permission from TrustedInstaller. It may be linked to some stupid settings but I can't figure a way through them...

You will need to get a hold of that person that modified the settings to your computer, you don't have an Admin permission. Most of the tasks required for troubleshooting needs Admin privileges.
I wonder if there are permissions also set in Local Security Policy, hmmm....
Can you get in? Local Security Policy Editor - Open

Oh, I overlooked your last question - wireless.
I can get in to the Local Security Policy. What should I look for?

You should be able to do anything then. Let's try the ipconfig /all again.
For Vista and Windows 7 you have to open up the command prompt in an elevated command:
Click on the Start Menu search box area type cmd, right click on cmd see at the top, and click on Run as Administrator.

From the black screen, type the word ipconfig /all and press enter. Right click on the black screen or Command prompt then choose Select All and Paste the results onto your Post.

Very good....I can see the issue here not having the proper IP. What type of Security or Firewall Software are you using?

    Please try these recommendations:
Try removing all network profiles, re-add your own SSID (wireless network) with the correct encryption.
    Wireless Network - Remove

If that didn't work, uninstall your Broadcom adapter, then go to the Broadcom site and download the most recent driver.
