Printer sharing on mixed OS network (XP/Win7)

I have a workgroup setup with two pcs.

1. Dell 530 (XP) with USB connected HP2200 printer
2. Dell 620 (Windows 7) with USB connected Dell 1250c (color laser).

HP printer is shared and am able to print from both pc's.
Dell 1250c prints fine from Dell 620.
Dell 1250c is set up to share, but will not print test page from Dell 530.
Have set up sharing on Dell 620/etc.
Added Dell 1250c to Dell 530. Printer appears but network icon below is yellow. Cannot print test page.
Add Printer required a driver addition and I have done that.

Dell tech support not sure 1250c can support shared printer/network setup.
Some advised I should not have to add printer on Dell 620 (network issues?)
Any suggestions...
