How to Successfully download/upload Videos into PS3

How do I save/upload/download files into my PS3 from my PC?

I tried using my 4gb usb drive but it wouldn't work when I selected "copy" on my ps3. Kept getting these ...80085 error ( pretty much cannot copy ). I did a little research and for the life of me cannot figure out why I can't save any video files into my PS3. It is Video Format approved ( I use .AVI )

I don't want to stream anything from pc to ps3. I want to delete some movies from my pc its taking up too much space and well, the ps3 is where i usually watch anything really.

I've heard about Media Center X, not too sure if its safe or what I really need because whenever I asked for help. I got information for video streams, which doesn't really answer my question.

Thank you very much, your help and time is vastly appreciated.
