Using Remote Desktop Connection with dynamic dns
Since I'm going to be away from home I want to be able to access my home network using Remote Desktop Connection. This works fine as long as I know my home IP address, but this is subject to change without notice, so I acquired a domain name and signed up for a dynamic dns service. Now, I can ping my new domain name by going to a command prompt and entering: ping mydomainname.com.mydynamicdns.com and I get a postive response so I take it the dynamic dns is working. However, if I now try to log on to Remote Desktop using the computer name (mydomainname.com.mydynamicdns.comort), it does not make a connection. I know I can get online and just look up my home ip address whenever I want, but since I went to the trouble, I was hoping to be able to just use the domain name.
Thanks for you help.
