Error 0x80070057 during clean install of Windows 7 on new hard drive

What do I do now? I decided to replace my existing hard drive as I thought it was damaged due to viruses. I installed a new hard and then used my Windows 7 Ultimate DVD to install. I got as far as the above. If this question has been answered somewhere else on this site, please direct me. I did look but did not find a situation similar to mine.
    I have a Core i7-950 3.07 Ghz.

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Have a look at this tutorial, which explains how to optimize a hard drive before you install Windows to it.

SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

You may also have to consider that the drive you are using may be faulty or that you are missing drive controller drivers.

As a matter of interest, why didn't you run a virus scan before trashing your old hard drive? A virus will mess up your Windows OS, but it shouldn't damage the hard drive, so replacing the drive seems a bit extreme.

My computer was so incredibly slow, replacing the hard drive seemed a better solution. My thinking was that this was a simpler way to deal with the existing data on the older hard drive.

I managed to format the new drive on another computer and put it back in. I got the installation to begin but then got this error message 0x80070003. What do I do now?
