unable to share internet connection between laptop and PC

Hi guys i need some help.

I have a laptop with windows7 installed and PC with windows xp installed.

I am using tp-link with a capability of wired&wireless modem router.

I connected my laptop via wireless and connected the internet, it is working properly.

When i connected to the xp PC via Lan connection. I can able to share the files.
But i am unable to share the internet connection.

What i have done so far
    1. Checked the sharing option in wireless lan.
2.Checked the option sharing in broadband connection in laptop windows7.
3.Changed the properties of the local area connection in PC to ip address as 192.168.2.2 (where windows7 laptop ip address is 192.168.2.1) and subnet mask as 255.255.255.0
    And leave other as blank

still it is not connecting to internet.

Sharing, as in networking, relies on the XP and 7 machines being assigned to the same 'workgroup' within each machines settings. Sharing in this sense is LAN side.

You do not need to bridge/share at adapter level at all. Let the TP Link device use it's DHCP server to enable connection sharing. Sharing in this sense refers to the WAN side internet connection being made available to both machines on the routers LAN side.

I don't know, how to create workgroup in windows 7.

In my XP I have a home group as MS-Home. But in my windows 7 laptop there is no workgroup is available to join.

Currently internet is connected in laptop only which have windows7 installed.
In My PC connected via lan. There is no internet.

Is your Windows 7 laptop equipped with the Windows 7 Starter Edition?

It's not an edition that exists in my part of the world, but it appears that you should create the 'workgroup' on the XP machine and that your W7 laptop should be able to join that - although, that said, you must have got some/complete file sharing ability already established.

You do not need to set either machine to share an internet connection.

That job is done by the router.

If you've attempted to set up any connection sharing in the LAN or WLAN adapters, return them both to defaults.

Now set the TP Link router up with DHCP active, NAT active (basically these should be so in its default settings if you're unsure what you're doing). Create your WiFi SSID and set the WEP/WPA/2 security as desired. Plug in your LAN connected PC, and you should be able to share the internet connection and manage networking through the router itself.

    Oops no success.

Anyway the situation is like this now.
1.Windows 7 laptop and Windows Xp PC now connected to switch via Lan cables. Where switch connected to modem.
2.I connected the internet in windows 7 laptop and it is working.
3.I am also able to open and share files.

When i ping 192.168.2.3(PC local area address) from Laptop, I got all reply.

    Problem.
No internet connection in windows xp PC. Please advice now what to change to make it work.

Both the modem-router and switch are 10/100 devices, but since since the TD-W8951ND has four LAN ports and WiFi and you are connecting one laptop wirelessly, and one hard-wired workstation, why do you need the switch at all?
