Windows 7: Error:Windows 7 'wireless service is not running on this computer'

hey all,
new to this forum but familiar with forums genrally use them fair amount great for sharing and gathering use full information.
laptop specs
------
Toshiba 'Personal computer'
AMD athlon II p320 dual Core 2.10
2 gb ram
windows 7 home premium SP.1
Atheros AR9285 wireless network adpator(built in)

problem:any ways it christmas day...going great then my sisters laptop WILL not connect to the internet.
did the usual restarted the router check the internet was working (via my desktop)it is.got windows to 'diagnose it' it finds the issue but cannot correct it or "Not fixed".
this is what i get

wireless service is also called WLAN autoconfig service

its also not showing up any avaliable connections in the 'network and sharing centre' and when you 'connect to a network' nothing happens.

only strange thing is when i connect the laptop to the router direct via a cable it works on the internet.ive browesd a few other forums looking for helps but i thought it be better to start here properly.

ive tried sfc/scannow and no dice.

also when i 'services.msc' to make sure WLAN autoconfig is turned to automatic(which it is)but then try to manually 'start' it i get Error 193: 0xc1



any help would amazing and really well received,i appologise in advance for my first thread being a long one but my theory was get as much info down as possible to try and make solving the problem easier.lastly i would like to thank people in advance for any input they give.
