    Limited access :(

Grrrrr..... so frusterated, I just bought my HP laptop for xmas. I can connect to the internet sometimes but it always starts off as limited access, and then i have to wait like 10-20 mins for the internet to pop up, if i restart my computer it doesnt automatically connect like it should, and it just randomly does this, I have tried everything with my router, restarting it, checking all the settings, switching it to a different channel, is there something im missing??? i have a linksys router and my ISP is comcast, its done this from day one. another weird thing, my brothers just got a laptop as well and when one of us trys to connect to wireless and the internet is working on the other 1, the internet on the one thats working immediately goes to limited access. I fear having to send this laptop in to get it repaired . any assistance would greatly be appreciated, I will check frequently as I cannot take this anymore. Thanks in advance :).

Have you tried resetting the router to factory defaults?

It just booted me off again actually, and no one is trying to connect... when I tried reconnecting it just said I was unable to connect, tried like 8 times, tried the troubleshooter and it just restarts my network adapter and still nothing, then I restarted my comp and tried connecting and it gave me the same issue, waited about 10 minutes and it let me connect but limited access, I don't get it at all... my network card is a Ralink RT5390 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter, I don't know if that helps at all...

Is this happening only with wireless? If so, it sounds like something might be interfering with the signal. Is there a wireless phone or something else that might be using the same frequency as the WiFi?

whew, finally fixed it after 5 hours of research. had to do a windows 7 clean boot and troubleshoot which programs were interfering with my wifi. finally figured it out, thanks for the replys though, anyone else experiencing my problem I highly suggest doing a clean boot as windows 7 is very picky. here is the howto link:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
