In that particular case it wouldn't improve anything, it might even make things worse.
That's where the saying, If it's working don't fix it applies.
My post was just an answer to the initial question of the OP, and a reaction to the people who said no, without elaborating on the if's and but's.

i did notice that my DL speed is more stable now at 690kBps.They do assist in maintain the speed but that is all.

Isn't there one which is suposed to work by routing your request for a web page to the company's server which downloads the page for you using its very fast connection, compresses the web pages, sends you the compressed page and the local software half of the package decompresses it. That would speed it up if it was a page with lots of images, but even that increase must be marginal.
Anyway, I get the impresion that most delays are due to the server getting round to supplying you with the data. Some are consistently fast, others are consistently very slow. Nothing to do with transmission speed. MS recently supplied a file at 2.3Mbits. Shortly afterwards, Ahead (Nero) sent a file at 60KBits! The speed test on my connection was around 2 Mbits at the time I did both downloads.

Nope. Caveat Emptor!
680kBps from a 6mbps plan is as good as it gets... When you factor in network overhead (33 bytes per packet), byte framing (1 bit per byte) and ping times I think most of us would bleed to get your kinds of speed...i have a 6mbps dsl plan. (w/ 20% reserved bandwidth disabled) i still get only 680kBps to 700kBps DL speed when using internet download manager. it's the same DL speed even without download manager. i still lack 50kBps.
