Win 7 doesn't see itself in network list

I have one Win 7 computer, call it ABC, in a workgroup-style network (no homegroup or domain) that can be accessed by name but doesn't broadcast its existence to the rest of the network or even appear in its own list of known network computers.

If I do net view from ABC, it will see all other computers on the network but it won't see itself:

Code:
C:\Windows>net view
Server Name Remark

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
\\DESK1
\\DESK2
\\LAP1
\\SERVER
The command completed successfully.
If I do net view \\ABC from ABC, however, it will see its own share:

Code:
C:\Windows>net view \\ABC
Shared resources at \\ABC

Share name Type Used as Comment

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Users Disk
The command completed successfully.
If I do net view from any other computer, it will see itself and all other computers on the network except for ABC.

Code:
[C:\Windows]net view
Server Name Remark

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
\\DESK1
\\DESK2
\\LAP1
\\SERVER
The command completed successfully.
Despite this, I can access ABC's shares by name from any computer on the network.

Code:
[C:\Windows]dir \\abc\users

 Directory of \\abc\users\*

01/01/2012 13:38 <DIR> .
01/01/2012 13:38 <DIR> ..
02/01/2012 19:45 <DIR> Admin
22/12/2011 00:57 <DIR> ---------
01/04/2011 09:48 <DIR> Guest
27/07/2009 06:36 <DIR> Public
0 bytes in 0 files and 6 dirs
    33,901,035,520 bytes free
Network discovery is on. Disabling software firewall (Comodo) doesn't make any difference. Both homegroup services are disabled. Can anyone suggest what I should look at next?
