Computer unable to connect to wireless network at new apartment
Yesterday I moved into a new apartment in Vancouver, Canada. Several friends came up with me to help me move in. My friends were able to connect to the wireless network. However, as soon as I tried connecting to the network, the wireless signal began to appear and disappear rapidly for everyone connected, effectively cutting off wireless access. This problem only occurs when I sign on. Furthermore, if I start my computer in Safe Mode with network access enabled I am able to connect to the net without any problem.
My computer is a Lenovo S10-3 running on Windows 7 Starter (32-bit) with the latest service pack.
I have so far tried the following solutions (in no particular order):
1. Restarting computer
2. Restarting Wireless Network Adapter
3. Restarting Router
4. Changing wireless network from home to public
5. Disabling home groups
6. Changing power saving settings according to knowledge base article 928152 You may experience connectivity issues or performance issues when you connect a mobile PC that is running Windows Vista or Windows 7 to a wireless access point
7. Uninstalling Lenovo's after market power management program.
8. Performing a system recovery.
9. Disabling/Re-Enabling: Firewall, Anti-virus and Windows Update
10. Scanning for Spyware.
This is the first time I have ever had this problem on any network.
Does anyone have any ideas?
