Windows 7: Can I connect my internet TV to my wireless PC?

Hi, I have a Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit PC that is connected to the Internet via wifi. I use this as a media PC which is located adjacent to my TV. I have just purchased a new TV that is capable of connecting to the Internet. What I want to do is connect the TV to my PC with a network cable and access the Internet via the PC's wireless connection. I have attempted this, but the TV fails to connect to the PC or the Internet. Does anyone know if this is possible and if so, how?

There are a fair number of TV's on the market with ethernet ports, but which presently lack the firmware to allow them to be 'networked' - indeed some of them have firmware that doesn't even contain code for the RJ45 port, it's just a gimmick at present...

Equally it applies to certain tuner boxes, which have network sockets, but absolutely no functionality!

In any event, if your TV's ethernet port does work... it'd need to be connected to the router by network cable, and not plugged into your laptop's network port

The TV is definitely Internet capable and does try to connect to my PC, but it fails with the message that it is not able to obtain an IP address, check that DHCP is enabled. I thought there might be a way of getting the WIFI card and the network card to communicate with each other like a router so that the TV can access the Internet via the PC.

if your tv is capable of accessing the internet it should also be wireless so surely you can search for the same network (SSID)that your pc connects throught to connect it to the internet that may also open other option for media sharing you will have to check the manual that came with your tv if it is not but your tv does connect to the internet via your router then it is possible you can upload your file then download or stream them to your tv Qdos please correct me if i am wrong

You can only do that if your laptop internet adapters (WiFi and Ethernet port) are what's called "bridged".

However that would be a cumbersome tie as opposed to connecting it direct to your router with a network cable.

Your router is already set to act as a DHCP server...

I've managed to get this to work. First I enable Internet Connection Sharing on the wireless adapter. I than manually set-up the IP Address, Gateway and DNS server on the network adapter and the TV. The TV is now connecting with the Internet OK.
