After 2 months, suddenly, "limited connectivity issues"

    Hello all,

First off, I am a nerd, my wife is a nerd, we have six computers in the house, running windows / linux, and who knows what, 2 tablets, 2 cell phones, ps3, wii, and a sony web tv.

Everything can connect to my router with no problem.

My 2 month old Sony Vaio, which I use primarily for mobile web development and graphic arts, was really a wonderful machine.

on 01/08/12, I purchased a wacom bamboo tablet, installed everything, and was having a great time sketching things on the computer tablet configuration, when after bout three hours of playing, suddently, I was dropped from wireless connectivity with no reason.

I checked with my wife, who was watching a netflix movie and happily computing on the other side of the couch, and she was connected. So I restarted my computer, everything came up fine, connected to the internet, and after about 60-90 seconds of normal internet happiness, I lost my connection again.

For the last 24 hours ish, this computer has been rebooted, restarted, the router has been restarted and unplugged, I have reset everything, uninstalled the tablet (It doesnt make sense to me how a usb drawing/mouse device may have any effect on my wireless, but hey... at the end of the rope)

And nothing works. Every other device connects just fine.

So, here I am, fellow nerds.

Anyone have any idea why in the heck my computer would run the internet over a wifi connection for only an apx 60 second run?

I need to conquer this, as I have some projects coming at me that I need the computer and abilities it has to work.

Thanks in advance, and if anyone needs any screenshots of anything, I will attempt to answer as promptly as possible.

(and windows network troubleshooting tells me everything is fine, figure that out)

Have you tried updating or reinstalling your wireless network adapter drivers?

Any firewall or network capable AV software loaded? If so, what happens if you disable it?

I just went into hardware, and deleted the drivers from the system, and then rebooted the computer, auto install, re-installed them, and I used the 60 seconds of internet connectivity to update.

still only get a blast of internet connectivity, but I am on the network will full signal. I thought it might be the router, but honestly, I have seven other devices in this house that are connected and getting on the net with no problem.

I just went around the house and powered everything net connecting down, thinking my router may have some kind of issues with the number of things connected to it, and same problem.

at this point, the only firewall is the basic windows one, and I have it turned off. same problem.

If I'm reading post #3 correctly, when your wireless connection breaks, you're keeping a physical layer connection to your router (you still have signal strength and Windows still thinks you're connected to your router's network) but you can't transfer data? Is that correct?

When you have no wireless connectivity, can you do ipconfig /all and post the section for your wireless adapter here?

I did some research, and found reports of ATT, having a glitch in the system that blocks an IP address from connecting to the net (or some research to indicate that if you massively upload, say a couple of joomla set ups and simple machine forums in about a 5 min span) ATT may actually select to slow down your IP address... (which I am not sure of, as I dont think anyone cares enough)

So i went to the cmd line, and used the ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew to manually assign a new ip address... and its working like a charm.

I will test throughout the next day and see if that permanently solves the problem.
