I'll have to check next time.
I turned media streaming on in network settings and my internet connection hasn't failed so far. Hopefully this fixes the problem.
My connection failed again. I brought up the ipconfig and got
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::16b:1c3f:5de9:7f0a%13
Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address. . : 169.254.127.10
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 99.50.187.1
Tunnel adapter isatap.{0152406A-1509-450B-9BC3-97D3D916ABC5}:
Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Tunnel adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface:
Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Then I tried to renew my IP and received this error message:
An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : The requested address is not valid in its context.
The only fix to the problem was to run windows troubleshooter to reset the connection and renew the IP address. I have no idea how to permanently correct the problem.
Totally uninstall ZoneAlarm: use the new ZoneAlarm Removal Tool: Click here http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...load/clean.exe
Save to desktop, right click and "run as administrator" This tool will remove all ZoneAlarm products from your system.
Next, Copy and paste these lines in Note pad.
@Echo on
pushd\windows\system32\drivers\etc
attrib -h -s -r hosts
echo 127.0.0.1 localhost>HOSTS
attrib +r +h +s hosts
popd
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset all
netsh int ip reset all
shutdown -r -t 1
del %0
Save as flush.bat to your desktop.
Double click on the flush.bat file to run it.Vista and Windows 7... right click the .bat file and choose to run as Administrator. Your computer will reboot itself.
Let us know if this works.
So far, so good. I'll post back if I have any problems. Thanks.
After having more problems with the unidentified network error I found it to be due to a fault in the outside lines. The coil underground gets heated and breaks down. However, I had to go throught hell with my ISP to get them to come out and fix it correctly. Most of the people that work in these companies are the laziest, most unqualified, idiotic, and dishonest crooks that I've ever come across. And it's not just one of the companies, it's all of them.
I have "Local Area Connection doesn't have a valid IP address."
It happens usually after computer wakes from sleep or hibernate.
Odin11, your post #14 has the same response from my cmd. Unfortunately, windows troubleshooter can't handle the issue. So it only lefts me reboot the router (linksys WRT120N).
Jacee, post #13. what those parameters do ? Are they safe to use any time the cited problem occurs ?
i have tried /release and /renew in that order thus far. Haven't resolved.
thanks for your support.
