Make a wireless network completely hidden

Hi,
Im living in a dorm right now, and the campus wi-fi is disgustingly slow, so a group of us got a linksys router for the dorm. I set it up so it would not broadcast the SSID, but other computers not connected to the network still see a "other network" icon when choosing a wireless network. is there any way to remove that completely so there is no trace of the wireless network? thanks

Suppressing SSID broadcasts is the most you can do to hide a WiFi network. If that's not good enough, then you need to switch to wired or powerline networking.
