dual boot: win 7 internet access no, winxp yes

I am running Windows 7 Version 7260 on a dual boot with Windows XP3. I can get internet/network access when operating under Windows xp3, yet if I shut down completely then re-start into Windows 7 I have no internet access.
However, if I start up in Windows XP then reboot into Windows 7, internet access is retained and available in Windows 7. All very curious.
Troubleshooters does not help claiming I have a missing cable connection.
Any help appreciated.

George; It might be helpful to know the make and model of the nic and driver you are using. I was having issues with my VIA Rhine onboard nic and the default Windows driver. When I installed the driver from the motherboard, stopped the problems. If you want to add some additional info, we will see what we can do.

Same problem with me, try update your network adapter drivers.

Thanks for your response.
I have a Gigabyte GA-945GCM-S2L with Realtek RTL8168/8111 PCI-E Gigabyte Ethernet NIC. As far as I can tell I seem to have the latest Driver, version 1.00.007.
As I said, all works fine with windows XP2, but cannot connect from a cold boot into Windows 7.
BTW, I can only assume the driver update version I have is suitable for Vista which in turn should be OK for Windows 7 (?). Anyway I cannot find a driver any later than that.
(Did I interpret your request for details correctly ?)

Perfect.

The Gigabyte web page for your motherboard shows a Vista x64 compatible realtek lan driver 6.225.0703.2009 No promises here, but you might have better success with this driver than the default Windows driver (I have assumed) you are using?
