Can I use a Netgear DG834G v2 as a wireless access point/repeater?

Hello – hope someone can help promptly?!

I am trying to help a friend who has a D-Link DSL-G604T set up and working fine in the study as the main modem/router and now we would like to use an older Netgear DG834G v2 modem/router as a wireless access point/repeater at the opposite end of the house ( kitchen ) – the house has very thick walls! – hence the wifi signal doesn't reach everywhere L

We also have 2 of these:

BT Comtrend Female Powerline

However, it is not clear from their manual if the 2nd one only gives internet connection via an Ethernet cable or will, using these 2 x Powerline, give us wifi as well in kitchen?? Or could we use both the DG834G v2 and 2 x Powerline to get a strong wifi signal to reach everywhere in the house?

If the Netgear DG834G v2 will not work - what's a good alternative to get wifi throughout the house + next door cottage, next to kitchen?
Any prompt help/detailed ( dummy proof please ) step-by-step guidelines are much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance!

Best wishes
Tina
