I finally got Wake-On-Lan to work, now I need to get Wake-On-Wireless-LAN to work.
I didn't get all of the informations needed for this assignment, if I did I would have said that from the beginning.
    - I'm in Device Manager ---> Power Management and I got two options:
    • Allow the computer to turn off this unit to save power)
    • Allow this unit to wake the computer (this option is grey, so I can't select it)

I'm not sure if I need the magic packet in order to get it to work, I hope not at least.
Any idea of how I can turn on this option?
Can you tell me how you got it to work.
I'm struggling with the same problem, i can reboot, thawed, freeze, but they will not wake up.
    I'm using DF 7.21.220.3447

I went to Device Manager --> found the Network card using the wire (It's on possible on Wireless) --> Power Management
Then you got a couple of options, this is what I have on the computer I'm using:
    • Allow this computer to shut down this unit to save battery.
    • Allow this unit to wake the computer.
    • Allow only that magic packet can wake the computer

(it's translated from danish, so it might not be exactly as it is in an english windows)
    - I've selected the last 2 in order to get it to work.
Remember to make all these settings, and other settings liked it, in thawed.

I can't find the danish translation to "wake on magic packet".
What the heck is that called in danish. :) "Vågn op med trylle pakke". :)

In danish the 3 options are called the following:
    • Tillad, at computeren slukker denne enhed for at spare strøm
    • Tillad, at denne enhed vækker computeren
    • Tillad kun, at en magisk pakke vækker computeren

If i disable the first one, the 2 rest will turn grey.

The way i see it, is that if you want it to WOL the "Tillad, at computeren slukker denne enhed for at spare strøm" has to be ticked, otherwise the
Tillad, at denne enhed vækker computeren
    and
Tillad kun, at en magisk pakke vækker computeren

    Will not be high lighted.

I updatet the driver, got some new functions concerning the WOL and turn the 3 options on.
    That seems to work.

I've been emailing with Faronics today (Deep Freeze creators), and they said this:

Thanks for clarifying. Wake-on-LAN does not work over wireless; by the nature of how it works, wireless connections will block broadcasting which is fundamental to WOL functionality.

    I hope this helps.
So I guess I can't do more from this point.

Yea there isnt much to do after the final word from faronics. that is too bad it would have been to good to know how or if that worked :) well hope i helped a little. was nice to respond to someone who is more than just a gaming nut :P

I am sorry to dig up an old post but I seem to be running into some issues here.

First off I want to state that I am an IT person for a couple Elementary schools. We use the deep freeze software to keep children from messing with things they dont need to, as well as keep a nice blank slate for the next user. With that being said we also use Cymphonix and Novell to filter the pages and files that students and teacher shave access to.

I have worked with WOL before, and I have it fully functional on our Windows Xp labs, but the problem lies with the Windows 7 labs.

I have enabled packets in the Bios, I have enabled packets on the NIC and I have set up Simple TCP/IP in windows programs and started it as a service.

I have followed the guide Windows 7 Issues: Wake-on-Lan (WOL) for Windows 7 Made Easy! and even this set up in this thread however when I send my wake up commands my computers do not wake up.

Some help with further investigation would be much appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Jaymes
