Windows 7 - Wake-On-LAN Deep Freeze

Hello seven forums.
I'm currently trying to make my computer Wake on LAN with Deep Freeze.
I've followed this guide to it:

The message is getting sent from the Deep Freeze console computer, but the laptop doesn't start up from the command sent.
The laptop is a ASUS k53s with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
I've went over all the settings I've made, I can lock it, freeze it, restart it, shut it down etc. But I can't wake it with LAN command.
Do you have any ideas on how to fix this?

ive used this when i worked at a college and we had to make sure the the network adapters settings were set to accept magic packets. depending on network setup i would check the properties of your card. it should then keep your adapter on after shutdown... hope this helps . i dont really check this particualar area of the forum so sorry if im slow at bouncing ideas off of

and oh boy i've had issues with this trying to wake up labs before classes :P

I've already tried that, I even tried to get it to work without accepting magic packets, so it's just in general the network card can wake it up, but that didn't work either. For what I can see it's not even reacting on the packet the console is sending.

ohh ya i forgot there was a bios setting on the newer dells we had gotten that had the mobo that had to do something with the magic packets as well and it didnt work with out it being turned on.. i guess im not sure how in depth asus bios is on your particular laptop. my old asus laptop had a pretty restricted bios

I already tried in BIOS, and there's nothing that indicated anything related to Wake On LAN, for what I could understand, it should be called something like power management. I had no luck with that either.
So I guess the laptop is pretty restrict in the BIOS settings.

ah ya must be the only other way you may be able to sqeak around it is going to a usb or ummmm that one wide card (express card? my laptop doesnt even have one as i look and type) but seems to be getting rather complicated. what kind of network adapter is it (realtek,intel,and so on)?

It has the realtek family controller shown in computer device, that's then one that it's connected on the network with.
I've tried both the magic packet option, and the normal one.
The problem is this assignment is for a customer, and he needs to be able to wake it on lan through the Deep Freeze Console so he can do remote maintenance on the computers (there's more computers, I just need to get one of them working and the rest should be fairly simple after that).

I finally got Wake-On-Lan to work, now I need to get Wake-On-Wireless-LAN to work.
I didn't get all of the informations needed for this assignment, if I did I would have said that from the beginning.
- I'm in Device Manager ---> Power Management and I got two options:

• Allow the computer to turn off this unit to save power)
• Allow this unit to wake the computer (this option is grey, so I can't select it)

I'm not sure if I need the magic packet in order to get it to work, I hope not at least.
Any idea of how I can turn on this option?

hmmm wireless adds a whole new demon to this project of yours

i have not ever gotten that to work right to be honest and at my old job our network was mostly wired (we had ports in the walls about every six feet so that wasn't to hard for the most part) i really think you are going to run into the issue of the manufacturer building this option into the wireless card you are speaking of. my Intel card on my laptop is in the same state as you describe. im not sure if a wireless card is able to hold a connection in a "powered off state" i know that in one of our computer careers labs we had to run a cisco wireless adapter to get a lot of things like this to work (once again desktops though not laptops :/) . i dont even have any wireless wake on lan options at that. I believe that some laptops may be able to keep a usb dongle away even when a laptop is shut off but of course that brings in more costs and external hardware hanging off of it.


as i poked around reading about wake on wireless lan (WoWLAN i like the abbreviation lol) i see this...
"Laptops powered by the Intel Centrino Processor Technology or newer[18] (with explicit BIOS support) allow waking up the machine using wireless Wake on Wireless LAN (WoWLAN)."
