Internet Access issues on Dell Inspiron 1545

Just looking for some advice,

My Laptop can see all Wireless networks even connect to them (i have tried several) but it reads limited access(therefore no internet access) i have an iPhone and when using it as a hotspot my laptop can gain internet access. all these networks works for others computers and there is no issue when it uses the iPhone as the hotspot. Has anyone any idea how to resolve this issue?

Thanks in advance

IanC

Please change your power settings to "High Performance". Then open "Network and Sharing Center" > click on "Troubleshoot problems". Let us know what happens. I hope that will work.

how would this happen and how would i fix it? Keep in mind I am on the internet at the minute on my laptop using my iPhone as a hotspot. it just seems to be unabe to connect to internet through routers and i have tried several including pubic networks all of which won't work apart from the iPhone!

Oh....then it's surely not wlan card problem. Did you by chance put any proxy or port info during internet configuration?

Im not sure what you mean by that to be honest. but i will fill you in on the entire situation, the laptop is now 2 years old i never had network connectivity problems before but a few weeks back i had to get a new DC port installed in my laptop and this has been the problem since. i have not changed any settings from before and the system restore did not help! can you explain exactly what you meant, I'm sorry but im not very good with computer jargon!

No I am sorry for being to technical. Please explain what is a DC port? DC Current power port? By internet options I meant this:

  1. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Internet Explorer.
  2. Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
  3. Click the Connections tab, and then click LAN settings. Is there anything....any numerical value etc?

the DC Port is the connection that you plug the charger into, it snapped off a few weeks back so charging could not happen. i checked and no numbers it is ticked to automatically detect settings. also i use primarily chrome but again its irrelevant. It just does not make any sense that it will not connect. really getting under my sin now too because i rely heavily on my laptop and cannot afford a new one. also the hotspot connection while useful is not that strong. Another point of interest i tried connecting using the ethernet port and it failed to connect also!

I really appreciate your help with this!

OK it's different in my country, now it's clear. and I really don't think this problem is worth buying a new laptop. Lets try in a different way. Click on Start then Run and paste the following into the Run box, exactly as show, including double quotes:

cmd /c "ipconfig /all > azo.txt & ping google.com >> azo.txt & notepad azo.txt & del azo.txt"

and press ENTER.

A file in notepad will open. Paste the contents here. I wanna have a look.

In this kind of cases I prefer a remote desktop connection checkup, but I don't think you will allow it or your iPhone bandwidth will permit it. BTW, is your laptop under warranty?

Do this while connected to your WiFi network.
