Wireless Adapters not working properly Win7/Linksys

Hello,

I recently purchased a new computer and with it a linksys AE1000 wireless adapter. I would love to have a wired set up but that is not feasible with the current layout of things in my living arrangement. Everytime I do any internet related action my ping spikes from around 40 to 300+, and the spiking is not temporary it lasts for long periods of time and seems to be triggered by things such as watching a video on Youtube or downloading a small file such as winzip. Also the connection seems to time out every so often. Currently I am trying to download the new Batman game and I am witnessing virtually no progress since the download speed builds itself up to around 200 and then quickly diminishes back to around 70. My router is brand new as well, and everything on the wired computer is working fine, it doesn't experience any spikes or internet issues that this computer does. I am running Windows 7 64bit and I will list my specs below. I would greatly appreciate any help as this is a frustrating matter. Also when my computer boots up it connects me to two instances on the same wireless network and I usually have to disconnect from one or the problems will be even worse. I believe this may be due to the preexisting wireless adapter in the system.

I am not very knowledgeable about computers so if anyone is willing to help it would be greatly appreciated. I have looked through many topics but haven't found a solution, if there is another topic just like this with a solution I apologize for duplicating.

Hello jw, and welcome to Sevenforums!

If you can download something (perhaps from another computer), click here to download the latest driver and save it to your system. There is something I noticed, there is no separate driver lists for x64 and x86. Its last update was the start of '10. It may just be an incompatible device. If you can, see if another device works on the computer. Go through your control panel programs and uninstall everything that has to do with wireless, such as the wireless adapter software. Then install the new adapter and see if that does anything. If not -
