Dual Monitor Remote Desktop assistance needed

Im sorry if this has been addressed in another thread, I searched and I could not find a scenario similar to mine. I am running Windows 7 64 bit with dual video cards and dual monitors at work. This weekend I remoted in to my work station from my laptop on single monitor mode from home and everything went fine , I could see everything I needed to see. When I get to my work station this morning something is wrong. When I open a program , it appears in the tray like normal but it is not visible on either screen. It is like it's being sent to a third monitor if there were one. I checked the display settings in the control panel and i am still setup for dual monitors. I am confused, have any of you had this happen before?
