    My laptop's Internet connection is slow when connected via Wireless.

    Hi guys. It's been some time since my Dell XPS M1530 laptop has been having Internet issues when connected via Wireless.
    It currently sports an Intel 4965 AGN card with Windows 7/8 pre-installed drivers and is connecting wirelessly to a Thomson router.

    It connects smoothly, but its reception of packages sucks: I can't connect to FTP, load pages at all, and downloads are around 8 kB/s. (Max should be 250 kB/s). Whereas other laptops are able to load pages normally

    All cords are correctly connected, and I don't believe the card is the one malfunctioning since I can connect to other routers flawlessly.

    Edit:
    I've tried pinging to websites using cmd and get an oscillation between 25% - 100% of packages received.

    Change the channel the router broadcasts on? I had to do this with my Grandson's setup recently when he started experiencing packet losses and dropped connections. Worth trying.

    Would you happen to use Plus. net?
    In case you don't have any documentation. I just picked one because you didn't specify which one you are using: https://www.plus.net/support/broadba...shooting.shtml
    I tried to find out if you had a Transmit Power setting on your Thompson, on mine it is listed under Wireless 2.4GHZ\Advance\Tx Power. It can be set from 12.5% to 100% Yours might be low., but default is 100%.

    Where is the router located? Is it out in the open or is it buried with other electronic peripherals, and walls around, what room of the house, basement?

    @Ztruker:
    I'll try changing channels, thanks for the tip!

    @Anak:
    The router is somewhat buried with other non wireless devices except a 6.0 Ghz phone. The router came from my ISP and it's locked: I can't enter to its config page, even by resetting it. But other computers connect fine with it.

    @Anak:
    I was visiting the link you've just put, and I am going to give it a shot! Thanks for it. With that I think I can make it to the config page.

    I'll post about it later on.

    Even "locked" you can always do a
    10. How do I do a factory reset on my router?

    If you have any problems setting up your router, you can reset it and start again.

    Use a paperclip, pen or pointed object to press into the reset pin hole on the back of the router. Keep the button pressed in for at least 7 seconds. When the power light goes red, release the button and wait until the power light turns green again.

    From this point on, your router will be restored to 'Factory Settings' so you'll need to start again from the beginning of this guide.

    Ztruker's tip is also a good one, if your on a channel that is really busy it helps to find one that has the least traffic.
