    Wireless Network Problem

    Hi,

I have 2 laptops on a wireless network, we can connect with the router fine but there is no internet connection. The connectivity icon displays 5 bars with a warning exclamation light and we cannot connect to the internet. This had happened randomly for a couple of days, we reset the modem and the problem went away but is seems permanent now.

    Thanks for any help

There are conditions though the DHCP set to automatic, sometimes specifying the address of DNS (primary or both) in IPv4 can be a big help.

It is always a good idea to set the router to an "always on" condition - in my Netgear router this is a setting of 0 for the idle timeout value. Check this is set like this in your router - it may help keep your connection from being lost after being idle.

    Idle Timeout

An idle Internet connection will be terminated after this time period.
If this value is zero (0), then the connection will be "kept alive" by re-connecting immediately whenever the connection is lost.
