Windows cannot access \\COMP 0x80070035 The network path was not found

This particular computer is straight from the factory, and has been working just fine for months. Now, all of a sudden, I can't read two different network paths. The error above keeps coming up, no matter what I do.

The computers I'm trying to connect to haven't changed. They're both running Windows 7 as well. I was trying to remember how to delete stored passwords for networking, but all I could find on google was to run control keymgr.dll ... This brings up the credential manager, but there's NOTHING in there at all.

I am totally stumped as to what the problem could be. I'm not having it on any other computer in the network. Any ideas, other than seeing if PCs can fly??

    Welcome to Seven Forums,

Any Firewall or Security Software installed? Disable it for now and see if it helps.

Also, you may try this: \\ComputerIPAddress\SharedDrive or folder to access the computer.

Also, assign the same User Name and Password on both computers.

    network error

No firewall other and Windows Firewall. I do have Avast! antivirus installed, but disabling that doesn't do anything. The primary user name and password is the same on ALL our computers.

Typing the \\COMPUTER\SharedDrive doesn't do anything different, either. As far as the IP Address goes, I have no idea.

BTW: Everything is working on every other computer. This computer was working not even a week ago, and NOTHING has been changed on ANY of the computers. I thought perhaps that it was an issue of it "forgot" the username/password for the network, but I can't seem to reset those ... or else, nothing happens. I'm not even sure I'm using the right screen.

Have you tried a System Restore?

If you're using the Windows Firewall and it is enabled, make sure than File and Printer sharing is excluded.

can't do system restore... system protection isn't turned on, and when I try to turn it on, I get some kind of error about directory names. I'm thinking I may have to reinstall windows to fix this one...

That doesn't sounds right. An image backup is also doable.
