Windows 7 refusing to share sub-files in a shared folder
I'm sharing my video files on my main machine so other devices can stream them. I have a directory structure set up like this:
and then there are individual folders inside them for each item. So, I right click on /shared_video and choose 'share with everyone' and, in theory, that should share ALL folders, files and sub items in all child folders. But alas, it shares everything EXCEPT individual video files ONLY in the tv shows section. let me illustrate:
/shared_video (sharing ok)
/shared_video/tv shows (sharing ok)
/shared_video/tv shows/bobs burgers (sharing ok)
/shared_video/tv shows/bobs burgers/season 1 (sharing ok)
/shared_video/tv shows/bobs burgers/season 1/S01E01.mkv (not sharing)
I can manually select that video file and choose to share it and it shares but why can't I share everything at one time? it will take months to individually share all of the files.
What I've tried:
-unshare and reshare - unsuccessful
-verify proper owner ship by 'reowning' the folder - unsuccessful
Any ideas? Thanks!
