Wireless Network Connection Doesn't have a valid IP Config.

So I'm having a major problem with my laptop. Been fine connecting to the internet since day 1 and now after having my laptop for about 6 months, It decides to connect, but have "Limited Access", therefore, not allowing me ANY Access. I diagnosed the problem and it told me to shut router off, all that stuff. I shut the router off, waited 10 seconds, turned it on, all that jazz and says that I "Completed" that, but now reads, "Wireless Network Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration".

Now I clicked on "Detection Details", and not sure if this matters, but seen these "reason's" a few times, "0x00028001" "0x00000007" and "0x00000101".

my Wireless connection driver info for the laptop is, Broadcom 43224AG 802.11a/b/g/draft-n Wi-Fi Adapter, version 5.60.48.31.

I'm not sure what else you guys need to know, but here is the IP Address of my desktop computer that IS UP AND RUNNING AND IN WORKING CONDITION...

    IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.100.103
    Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.100.254

The Ip Address for my laptop that IS NOT WORKING IS AS FOLLOWS...

    Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address : 169.254.120.38
    Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0
    Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . . : <blank?>
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out. Much appreciated!!

    Welcome to Seven Forums,

If you have not done this yet, please manually download the latest driver for your Broadcom Driver here. Uninstall the device from your Computer's Device Manager and manually download the latest driver. Here's a Tutorial on how to update the driver.

    An udpate will be nice.

Alright so I got as far as restarting my laptop and re-installing the driver (first time was a fail, so I had to manually re-install it) and then to the update part.

I right click the driver, choose update, and it does it all automatically... no "Hardware Update Wizard" appeared, it just automatically updated it and said it is now all up to date... And it still says limited access. Is there anything more I need to do after this? 'cause it didn't work with just these instructions.

Thanks so much for your time!

    Hi TDOT

Your default gateway should be set to the ip address of the router and you should try change your subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 as this may cause some issues. Typically you should set the option to Obtain IP Address Automatically.
99% of the time windows will find a configuration that works.

is there a reason why you have manually set your ip's?

OK, I'm currently on my laptop as we speak, I actually checked other threads from people having the same problem, so I just simply shut the router off, held reset for 5-10 seconds, and she's working great now lol. BUT, I'm posting my 'ipconfig /all' dialogue for all you to see and check out in case the problem persists. Is there anything you see here that doesn't look right?

Again, thanks for helping out! It's working!

Same problem - different solution - McAfee!

I had the same TCP/IP problem & tried all of the above solutions. Whilst preparing to reluctantly do a Windows 7 reinstallation I uninstalled McAfee and BINGO .. my internet connection problem disaappeared! I have since re-installed McAfee and all is well.
