Computer Description & IP Address in Network Folder

When I go to the Network folder, all of the computer names on the network are listed. But the IP Address column is blank. How do I get it to display the IP Address for each computer listed?

Also, can I get it to display the Computer Description as well?

    Welcome to Seven Forums!

Here's how to display the IP Addresses:

When you display the Network Folder, change the view to show "details". The icon is at the top right. Once you do that, right click in the column headers, you'll get a context menu with different options. Look in the list and you'll see IP Address. Once it's displayed you can drag it to where you want it.

    Good Luck!

I have the colums showing, but the only IP address that appears is that of my computer. My computer shows as 127.0.0.1

You computer will show as 127.0.0.1. That's it's loopback address. Mine shows the same.

How many other computers are on the network? Are they all the same workgroup or homegroup?

There are 30 computers and they are all on the same network domain.
There is a network printer that is being listed with it's IP address.

When you have the Network Folder Open

You will right click under View and list as Detail....

then you will hit "ALT" on your keyboard. Go to "View" then you will "Choose Detail"
there you can choose what is listed.

This does not show IP addresses for XP computers or my router for some reason... the column is blank for them. It does show the Windows Media Player IP address on an XP machine... how can it display the IP for that but not the computer?

I can pull up the IP addresses for all devices connected to my router (including the router's IP) using my Droid's Fing app... why can't Windows 7 do it? If it can, how do we actually do it?

Is there some way to show them over command line?
