The problem is i just cant get the machines to connect to each other. I have just read that RDC is not available on "Home Premium" versions of windows is this correct? I have RDC loaded up so that kind of threw me abit as it is on the machine.
Anyway if the above is not true, i have tried pinging my laptop from my dekstop via IP and node name and it see's it fine. I have checked RDC is enabled on both machines which it is and i have also check the registry to make sure its showing the correct port which it is.
Am i missing a very easy step here?
Hope you can help

Liam, you are correct in that the home versions are not able to act as a rdc server. I..e.. you can not connect to them but you can use them as a client to connect to other computers running the pro versions and above or a server.
Of course you have to authorize a user to access via rdp on the machine that you wish to connect to.
