I cannot take it.
I am trying a go at Win7, but I will be forced to go back to XP if I can't get rid of this issue =(

What do you mean by lag?
Its lagging while browsing images? According to me,a lag can occur either while playing games or video. How can images lag? Also, are you browsing online or what?

No, the sound stutters while an image loads.
This is extremely annoying while browsing and listening ot music.
It appears to be realted to chipset drivers, but the latest drivers from Intel for P35 didn't do any good.
Thats quite some overclock your running there. I don't believe I've ever seen an E8400 clocked up to 8.34Ghz before?
Using a 6GB Ram configuration can also cause problems. I'm assuming that you are mixing Ram sets to do that. Using a 4GB kit and another 2GB kit together doesn't always work so well. This can sometimes cause problems. It might be worth trying just 4GB to see if anything changes.
I was kidding about the 8.34GHz overclock, I'm sure that is just a typo.

Sounds as if your sound drivers are your problem. I am sure your sound drivers are up to date so you might try doing a google to see if others are having the same problems. My onboard soundboard is a Realtech HD which also had problems, did a google and found a fix. Also if you are using drivers from a motherboard disc then they could be outdated.
Also as chev65 has indicated it could be a problem with ram, or you may need to turn down the over clocking. That could be causing a stability problem even if the system is not overheating.
That's right, it's 3.84 GHz... I'll correct it right away.
However, I've updated the sound drivers from RealTek also.
I have tried running 64-bit XP, and everything worked perfectly.
I have also tried running OSx86 1.5.6-7-8, and it works too. So this should not be related to physical system stability (both XP x64 and OS X are 64-bit systems).
Is it possible that Intel (or Realtek) have not released stable drivers yet?
And yes, you guess right - I am running a 2Gb and a 4GB kit simultaneously, which hasn't yet caused me any problems (see above OSs).
Interesting thing - I updated the sound drivers (again), and everything worked well... until restart. After restarting - same stuttering.
What could be the cause?
One of the first things to do if you notice any problems such as this is to make sure that you are running all your components at stock speeds (their defaults). Typically, when overclocking, your bus transfer speeds are higher than normal. There is nothing wrong with that, but you need to remember that everything connected to the bus also needs to be able to work at the higher than normal speeds. For graphics, you get artifacts and with audio you can get stuttering.
Interesting news.
If I "uninstall" the sound device driver and restart - it works without a hitch, 100% fine.
After the next restart - the problem is back until I remove the sound device and restart.
What gives?
