Packet loss only in win 7, but not in xp

I have packet loss, and randomly connection loss (but otherwise i have very good pings!) under windows 7 with two different computer with realtek 8111B and 8111E onboard chips. But there is no packet loss under windows xp with the same computers.

I tried old, new, and motherboard manufacturer's drivers, new windows 7 system without any antivirus software, disabled windows defender, in safe mode, but still the same. I have no router, just a modem directly plug into the pc.

Whats the problem? Windows 7 or realtek drivers/chips?

Can you help me?

Thx!

One thing to check is the firmware of the Modem.

There were a fair few changes to the network stack and networking in general, between the time of XP and Windows 7.

A few routers had problems with the change, and although It's not a common issue with modems' it may be worthwhile investigating if there are any firmware updates available.

If the modem is supplied by the ISP, they may even be willing to supply a replacement, especially if you have had the modem for some time
