that is correct, it sits on my desktop pc. I am gonna close down for the nite & check to see if I'm still seeing both in AM. If I am, next is figuring out how to share the printer with my laptop, it is hooked to my win7 desktop. I have downloaded the win7 divers for it onto my win7 desktop.

I have done that & restated both pc's, now they each see each other, will see how long it lasts.
Another question how do I set it up so both pc's share a printer?

During the period of time when the PCs can't see each other, what else doesn't work (forget about the printer for now)? Can each machine still access the internet, while not being able to see the other machine?

Resetting that router might be a clue.

Oh I have several of them, why I want to do this is on my old pc I had Microsoft Works & it is also on my laptop but not the win 7 desktop. I made 2 address label databases and don't know if they will import into Microsoft Office? maybe I'll try that next. So far both pc's are seeing each other. Now I need to know how to share my printer.

Yes the internet work all the time even when the 2 pc's aren't seeing each other & yes each machine can be seen & I am able to get into the files of that machine while in the network
