Hi. The internet problem cleared up, but I still have the slow boot:

Gathering a Startup, Shutdown, Sleep, Hibernate, or Reboot Trace

As I said #25, I'm afraid a clean re-installation of Windows is not an option.

Thanks,

Martin

go to your windows start bar and type msconfig then press enter.Go to were it says startup and take a screen shot of that. I belive there is a bunch of crap making your boot slower and I can help you decide what you need and what not.

Hi, thanks for the replies, but I think it better you look at the other thread. I have tried everything - starting with all startup items disabled in msconfig., booting in safe mode, a repair installation of Windows ... nothing works. I have a boot trace but am not sure what it signifies (other thread)..

you tried sfc /scanow in command prompt to see if you got errors and let windows repair them? And what is the other thread so I can see what you have done

Yes, I have - I even tried restoring an image of the C-drive made before the problem arose, to no effect. Very strange..

The other thread is the one mentioned above:

Gathering a Startup, Shutdown, Sleep, Hibernate, or Reboot Trace - Windows 7 Forums

I have posted a trace, but no response from anyone thus far.

Thanks,

Martin

Martin, send Cluberti a nice message. He's swamped at MS now but will read your trace asap, I'm sure.
