If it was me I'd be thinking of trying a different router. All your machines should be up to the task no problem.

Media Streaming works perfectly with Windows 7 and I do a lot of streaming.

Even wirelessly out to me garage I can stream movies perfectly with no skipping at 20mbps wireless.

I don't believe you should need to mess with the routers firewalls either.

You might be experiencing a encoding problem. If you can stream ok from online services and not from local lan it is not the network imo. Therefor you should look at the computer doing the encoding and see if the hickups are orginating there. you can also do a continuous ping from a client to the server at the same time to verifi that your connection is not the problem.
ping x.x.x.x -t

btw it might also be a gig interface problem. I have sometimes seen gig intefaces connected to 100 mb links fail. Try setting it to 100 full duplex or 100 auto if the network card has that option. If that is the problem you should see a continous ping fail every now and then.

You tested five routers but ended up with the one that doesn't stream well? Talk about bad luck.

Have you tried resetting the router or working with it's settings?
