Windows 7: Not able to connect to certain sites.

Hey,

Earlier today my Wi-Fi sort of cut out I guess. It will only let me access a few websites (this being one of the only tech websites I could get to work off google) like Google and Youtube. Say I type in yahoo.com in the address bar, after I go to it, it will sit there loading forever. I'm not sure what happen'd because this is the first time ive seen this. I tried resetting my router and stuff but I'm not really to computer savvy. So if you have any ideas of what could be wrong that would be awesome.



Oh and its doing this to every computer/ipod,phone (Wired and wireless) connected to our internet.

Check the status of your router and modem via their server's webpage.

I suggest that you change your DNS and Alternate DNS to Google and retry. They are DNS = 8.8.8.8 and ADNS = 8.8.4.4 and they are interchangeable.

Ask your ISP

Adapter settings > Network tab > select TCP/IP v4 > Properties > look at lower half

Here it is step-by-step

01 Open Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center and click on Network Adapter Settings on the left Panel

02 Right Click Local Area Connection Icon and Click on Properties

03 Select TCP/IPv4 and Click Properties

04 First note down the Preferred and Alternate DNS Address and keep then safely so that you can re-enter them in the future whenever you want

05 Then fill up 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as the new PDNS and ADNS Addresses

06 Press OK all the way back.

That is it. Now try connecting to the Net and see if matters have improved.

Because it's happening with all your devices you need to check the status of the devices they all connect to. The router's status page is where you would start. I would ask you to post a screenshot but that's probably not a good idea. I don't know what brand your using and what may appear on that page that might not be safe to post for the world to see.

So instead of that screenshot, go to one of the PCs, open a command prompt and do an ipconfig /all and post the results from that.
