    Windows Updates - Multiple Systesm

    Hi Everyone,

My question is in regards to Windows Updates. I have small business network running about 15 systems. My networked systems include: Windows Xp Pro, Vista Business, and Windows 7 Pro. I have very limited bandwidth & budget. I am looking for a standalone solution that will allow me to download required updates once and push them out to all system connected via lan. Is this possible? If so what is the best solution on a very tight IT budget?

The walk through in the link below should help you configure the GPO for automatic updates.

I have the systems already configured for automatic updates over the internet. I am sorry if I wasn’t clear about that with my last post. I’m looking for a way to download updates for all of the systems on my network once saving them to a single system and have all other system pull their updates from my main system over my LAN, rather than have each system go out and pull their updates individually over the internet. Is this possible?

Yes, install and run Windows Software Update Services (WSUS). That's exactly what it's designed to do.

It looks like you need Windows server 2003 or 2008 to use WSUS. Is there another way to to achieve my goal without having to spend another $500-$600 dollars for a licensed product?
