losing network printer

I am connected to a network through a router and the printer I use is connected directly to another computer. On initial boot up my computer shows the printer under "devices and printers" and I can print. However over time, the printer disappears from "devices and printers" and the only thing I can do is re-boot to get the printer back. How do I stop the computer from loosing the printer?

Hi ramona409 and Welcome to Seven Forums,

If the computer that has the printer connected to goes to sleep mode that might be an issue.

You may disable Hibernate Mode and see if that helps. Follow this Tutorial from Brink.

Yes, as 2xg suggests, that is likely to be the cause - I have exactly the same setup and if the computer that the printer is connected to goes to sleep, you have to wake it up before you can print again (havn't noticed the icon disappearing tho' ).
