Ridiculously high ping problems(probable cause found)

Speedtest.net(100~ miles), team fortress 2, and warcraft III are all getting ridiculously high pings, 3000+ ms. Sometimes it goes way down to what it should be at like 30~ ms but I have no idea what's happening. It happens with wireless and wired connections to my network.

On speedtest I get similar upload/download speeds compared to other non-windows 7 PCs on my network, just a really high ping. Believe it has to rest with the operating system, because I wasn't having this problem with XP.

    Hardware:
I use a dell XPS 1530 laptop. It has a 8600M GT nvidia card, intel core 2 duo 2.16 Ghz processor, dell wireless 1395 mini card etc.

    Drivers:
I've installed a windows vista nvidia driver, and a windows update wireless card driver. Everything else is what came with the 7100 release candidate.

    Network:
The network uses WPA2-Personal security, has several computers and 2 file servers connected to it(all with fine working internet), with a DIR-165 wireless N router.

    Attempted:
-Disabling auto tuning on the command line(It might reduced the severity of the spikes, but they still make online games unplayable)
-Disabling windows media player in the services
-Using a vista wireless card driver
-Using a windows 7 nvidia driver
-Using only hardwired and disabling checksum offload in configuration
-Reinstalling windows 7(the problem exists in the base state of the OS, and after downloading windows updates, and after trying fixes)

    The problem persists

Hi Carthage and welcome to Seven Forums.

This may be a long shot but have you tried disabling TCP/IP v6 ?

I see many people here have problems with bandwidth and high ping in games, makes me wonder if there really is something wrong with Windows 7 regarding networking/internet ...

Ok, I think I've found the problem.

My sister has a macbook pro, when it is connected wirelessly to the network, I get horrible pings. When it isn't, I get normal pings.

Any idea as to what network compatibility problem might be occurring, or how to figure it out?

    Update #2:

Problem is with Airport(The mac wireless program thingy). Temporary solution of having the mac connected through a wire. Anyone encounter this problem before?

Edit:Temporary fix did not work. Turning off airport would give me a "normal" ping though, atleast temporarily...more testing is needed.
