Win 7 Ultimate won't run "Windows Remote Assistance"

I just built my sister a win7pro machine and I set it up so she can easily contact me and do remote assistance. I tested my setup with my laptop also running win7pro and mailed the machine off to her (some 2K miles away).
Then I decided I'd tried to do a session between my laptop and my main machine a Windows 7 Ultimate (both my laptop and the main desktop are 64bit). The windows 7 ultimate machine will not connect to the windows assistance peer to peer network; my laptop does. I ran the network connection checker from MS (passed all tests); I turned off the FW and tried again, but still no connection. I checked the Upnp setting in the router and it's enabled. I'm beginning to think it may have something to do with my network card itself. The on-board built-in NIC failed a few months back to I installed a Netgear NIC; it been working fine since then with no other strange occurrences.
Can anyone think of anything else that might stop a machine from connecting to this network? Does anyone know what are the ports used for Windows remote assistance?

There is no option to run a trouble shooter. There is a "Tell me how to fix this" link that brings up three points that mostly have no bearing or that I met....
".....Here are some common reasons for problems you might run into when trying to use Easy Connect.
  • Both computers aren't running Windows 7. (Both of mine are) In order to use Easy Connect with Remote Assistance, both of the computers must be running Windows 7.
  • Access to the Internet is limited. (Nope) If access to the Internet is limited on either computer, Easy Connect is disabled. Internet access might be limited if you’re on a corporate network. (Not on a corporate network and even with my firewall disable I can't connect)
  • Your router doesn't support Easy Connect. Easy Connect uses the Peer Name Resolution Protocol to transfer the Remote Assistance invitation over the Internet. You can check your router by using the Internet Connectivity Evaluation Tool on the Microsoft website. If you're running Windows Server, you need to install the Peer Name Resolution Protocol." (Did this and passed all tests)

Suggest you use Teamviewer. It is dead easy to use and works all the time.

That is interesting there is no troubleshoot option in the Remote Assistance dialog box on my computer. When it fails it does not offer that option.
