Remote shutdown Access Denied (5)

I know this has been asked about a lot, but I've searched for a solution to my problem for a while know and I can;t get it to work. I have an asministrator account on both computers with the same password. I have tried to shut it down with the command itself and the GUI. It always returns with the same error: "DESKTOP-PC: Access is denied.(5)". I have downloaded psshutdown, but I don't really know how to use it. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Yes, as I stated above, I have searched Google and cannot find a solution there. That is the reason I'm asking my question here. I know that those are the commands for psshutdown, I have downloaded it, but I don't know what to do now.

Are you using the -p password -u user parameters with the PsShutdown command?

I haven't even gotten up to that yet. And yes I will use it when I try it, but I have only downloaded the PStools, I don't know what to do next/how to use them.

kegobeer gave you a link to the help for it. Did you read through that? If so, what specific questions do you still have?

I did a few google searches for how to use psshutdown and found one thread that had this in it:

psshutdown \\computername -u "Admin user name" -p "Admin password" -s -t 60 -m "Sorry, System Must Shut Down for Maintenance of Network"

The \\computername is the name of the computer you want to shutdown. Enter net view from a Command Prompt to see the available names.
I tried it and it worked, shut the computer down in 60 seconds.
Replace -s with -r and it will restart instead of shutting down.

I get this error when I try to use the normal shutdown command. So my questions now is what to do with psshutdown. I have downloaded psTools, but I don't know what to do now. When I type in the Syntax into CMD it just tells me that the command is not recognized. So I am wondering how to use psshutdown. I have only downloaded it, I have not doe anything else with it.

Okay let me explain this one more time. I already know that that's the command. I have seen all of that before. I have tried using that in CMD. It tells me that the command is not recognized. Is there something I must do between downloading psTools and entering that command into command prompt? Telling me multiple times that I need to re-read a link that you have sent me is not really being helpful.

You need to download PsShutDown then run it. It has to be placed either in the current directory when you open a Command Prompt or in a directory defined in the PATH environment variable.

If you downloaded PSTools then it is included in that package. The PsTools download package includes an HTML help file with complete usage information for all the tools.

You need to either add the directory (Folder) you unzipped PSTools in to your PATH statement or copy psshutdown.exe to the directory you want to run it form. Normally this would be C:\Users\xxxxxxxx, where xxxxxxxx is your account name.

The when you run psshutdown, you will no longer get a command not recognized error message.
