Offline files sync but all have a red X

I have a 2003 SBS server and several users all on Windows 7.

One of the users just got a new Sony laptop with Windows 7 Pro, his existing laptop was also Windows 7 Pro.

I am trying to make same file share available offline again and the files sync with no errors in sync center. But when the user goes offline all the files have a red X and the files are partially transparent.
All the KB's and threads I can find involved people getting access denied errors, but I'm getting no sync errors.

    Any ideas?
I tried formatting the offline files database earlier and I made a dozen files available offline. No errors but again red x's when he went offline.

First I've seen that one, doesn't sound exactly the same as the Sync Center reports no errors.
But I'll apply the hotfix and hope for the best lol I'm out of any other ideas.

    Thanks for the link Anak

It wouldn't even install I guess it's been superseded by something else.

You might want to go over this: How to Manually Sync Your Offline Files in Windows 7 to see if you missed anything, there is space at the bottom where you could pose the red x question to Brink.

I recieved this issue when I hadn't left enough time for the offlines file to complete their initial sync.

The user swore to me the initial sync had finished. But after installing that hotfix things still didn't work. But then I told windows to make the files available offline again (for the 3rd time) out of desperation and it's working now.

So the hotfix reset or cleared something somewhere that kicked things off, best guess.

Glad to hear you got it working,

I will have to remember to include your step of
then I told windows to make the files available offline again
That is similar to restarting the machine after any major changes to the OS.

i.e., The update will not take affect until the System is restarted or the program setting is changed, applied, and OK'd.
