    download issues chrome windows 7

    I used chrome I run windows 7.

When I download I get very low speeds. My computer is new. 500 gig 5 gig ram and 1.3mhz duel core.

Now I notice with chrome if I close screen download stops, if its to large of a file the download will cut out often... and even though I get full bars I never seem to download very fast. Also I hate how if something happens and download stops I cant restart it its juts canceled..

Is there a way to speed up wifi ? a program or setting (perhaps avast slows it down)

is there a download manager that can help speed up download or at least

it sucks I have a 300mb file it downloads 250mb then says its done and stops so I go to download file I have a zip 250mb big but its not complete it should be 300mb and there is no way to know unless

    A. I try it out and see it doesn't work
    B. I redownload it and it shows me size it should be

I dunno why cuts out if I can't find a way to at least have it resume the download when it stops on chrome I will have to get firefox

What are you using to get the wifi connection?
Is it a usb wifi device or something built in?
Also , yes antiviruses can interfere with connections if they are set too aggressively.

    1. The Internet speed that you paid for is what you get, there is no way to speed it up whatsoever.

    2. You may try IDM but you'll never get anything faster than your default connection speed.

You download or the file uploaded is probably corrupt.

    Hello xxsicknessxx,

When I download I get very low speeds. Has this happened since the beginning of your usage?

Now I notice with chrome if I close screen download stops. If you mean if you close chrome, it is normal that you are prompted to must continue the download, or otherwise cancel it before closing chrome, as far as I know.

If its to large of a file the download will cut out often. This should be a problem with your internet connection having inconsistencies.

Also I hate how if something happens and download stops I cant restart it its juts canceled.. That is by default, this applies to all users using the download feature of Chrome. I would suggest using a free downloader which has the capability of pausing downloads. Try this one: Orbit Downloader: the ultra file & social media (YouTube etc..) download manager

Is there a way to speed up wifi ? a program or setting (perhaps avast slows it down). Do disable Avast to test if it is the cause. It will be useful if you'll fill up your System Specs. Let us know what your Wireless Adapter is, an update might fix it. System Info - See Your System Specs

Another thing, run Resource Monitor and in the network tab, see if any process is overusing your network.

    I have a new Dell Precision M6600 laptop Win7 x64.

    I have tried 12 times to download a 35mb file with no success (8mb, 30mb, 15mb, etc).

I pulled out my old HP laptop with XP. It downloaded the file first try.

I then tried downloading on both laptops at the same time. XP downloaded. Win7 failed.

I tried both wifi and wired on both laptops. XP downloaded everytime, Win7 failed every time.

Any thoughts on why this might be happening... seems similar to the original post...
