How to unblock/block a specific computer?

Okay, I start this way. Me and my brother have both W7 Home 64bit, and I'm able to connect every other computer, but not his. also he can connect others but not me (example. I cant see him on network, cant connect his server (any game that needs your computer to host it up)). everyone says that we have blocked eachother somehow.
It worked when we bought these W7', and then stopped working. so we set these two computers back to factory settings, then it worked again for a while, and now it has stopped again.

PS. if the problem isnt with our blocking, then say it to me and I'll fix the title.

    Thank you.

Hello slim, and welcome to Sevenforums!

    For both computers:
    1. Make sure they are updated completely.
    2. Type "Manage advanced sharing settings" into the start menu search bar and click it. Make sure network discovery is turned on.
    3. Make sure the game isn't blocked by windows firewall or an antivirus program. Into the start menu search bar type, "allow a program" and click the first option at the top. Find or add the game to the list and make sure it is allowed on all home/public networks. Temporarily try disabling your antiviruses on each computer.
    4. Make sure each game is completely updated.
    5. Test it. Go into Network and see if each computer can see the other. Can you connect to each other now? Some games such as Age of Empires II no longer support connecting to each other, even over LAN connections. Could the game be the cause of the problem for you (how old is the game)?

You should be able to narrow the problem down by performing a clean boot on the problem machine.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

There is also a good possibility that one of the Windows updates is causing this problem so you might try uninstalling them all and reinstalling one at a time until the offending update is found.

@DustSailor thank you, this solved half of the problem. Bro can host server but I cant join it but he can join mine. it's K I think. but ye, I think the problem was with avast antivirus.

@chev65 Thank you too, I will try this if our connection gets down

Anyways, thank you both and I let you know now you made my brothers day.

(PS. Age Of Empires II is pretty damn good game but we were playing minecraft, terraria, mw3, ut3, GTA SA MP etc. just FYI )
