    Ok i am going to try from safe mode...
    I have norton antivirus 2011, but it is not that since the one window 7 machine has no antivirus on it right now and it cannot get to the xp machine either..

    I meant the winxp machine. What anti4us is he running? Because some anti4us programs do block "system restore"
