    Entering router via modem

    Hello:

Is there any way to enter a router (e.g. 192.168.15.1) via a cable modem, that is, without having to disconnect the cable modem from the computer and connect the router directly to the computer?

    Thanks in advance.

You don't need to mess with the modem to access a router. No need to change anything.

Just type the routers default gateway into your browsers URL and you will be at the routers set up page. :)

That would, indeed, be very nice, but it does not work. I get "The connection was reset" error when I try. I get into the modem just fine.

Modem (= Gateway) is Motorola SURFboard SBG6580 [192.168.0.1) and router (phone adapter) is Motorola VT2442 (192.168.15.1 – not working via modem).

From my point of view that particular modem is really a modem/router combo in which case you should be able to plug a regular switch into it if you need more Ethernet connections, rather than using another router which will only cause problems.

I need to use the router in this case, because it is a Vonage Phone Adapter (for VoIP).
