We have two pcs under Win7 and wish to share files. The instructions for setting up a home group do not seem to work.

Homegroups works perfectly fine I can assure you, although there are certain requirements for it to work correctly. Try going through the link below and make certain that everything is set up correctly.

If everything is set up correctly you should have no problem creating a Homegroup.
