Windows 7: Unidentified Network / Identifying - continuously trying to connect

It is a 10/100/1000 switch. I had never used the desktop with the switch before, but the laptop connected to it fine at 1 GB...

That must be a very outdated driver on the desktop or a very old machine because 10mb is very old standard and slower than molasses, even with that the auto negotiation setting should work.

You might want to look around for an updated version of the network driver for the desktop to get it up to speed.

Desktop is about 3 or 4 years old I think -- NIC should be at 100, but is not working at 100. Is Intel 82562V-2 10/100. So it should work at 100, but doesn't. In the process of trying to figure this out, I did update the driver to a Oct 2011 version (the most recent available), but still won't connect at 100.

Am assuming this is likely a problem with the NIC... In the meantime, at least I have connectivity now!
